2025/26 Open Positions at SOLA


SOLA is currently seeking candidates for the following positions:

Handwork, Animal & Folk Arts Teacher:

SOLA is seeking a handwork and traditional crafts teacher. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years teaching experience, and a working familiarity or training in Waldorf/ Steiner's indications for child development. Also essential are a well developed knowledge of traditional handicrafts such as basketry, fiber arts, ceramics, and wildcrafting, and related teaching experience with all ages. An ideal candidate will have a love for the natural world, an appreciation of forest, farm, and folkways, reverence for the relationships between plants, animals, and human beings, and the biodynamic function of these relationships within the context of a living cosmos. The position is full time, and compensation is commensurate with experience and level of commitment. Compensation is commensurate with level of commitment and experience.

  • 5 week Winter break, and 1 week Autumn & Spring break;

Class 3/4 Lead Teacher and Class 5/6 Lead Teacher:

SOLA is seeking a grades 3/4 class and grades 5/6 teacher for the 2025/26 year. The ideal candidates will have completed or be engaged in Waldorf teacher training or mentoring; will have at least 2 years of previous teaching experience in a nature centered, holistic or Waldorf learning environment; will have a a deep love and reverence for the natural world and a curiosity or working knowledge of Rudolf Steiner's imagination of child development within the context of a living cosmos. The ideal candidates will feel inspired about utilizing the learning benefits that are readily available within a vibrant nature preserve and biodynamic farm, and be excited to integrate and enrich the Waldorf academic curriculum through experiences in this environment. The ideal candidates will also possess a willingness and courage to responsibly enliven the traditional Waldorf Curriculum with the truth, beauty, and goodness of forest, farm, and folkways. SOLA honors the sanctity of childhood and Steiner's indications around the co-evolutory processes of the human being and a Living Cosmos.

Our hope is to identify a candidate who are committed to carrying each class through 6th grade. Compensation is commensurate with experience, and ranges from $36-41,000 per annum, and also includes:
